Skittels or 9 Pins is an old English Pub game similar to modern day bowling. There are many different versions of skittle sets and I was inspired to make my own Tramp Art version after looking at dozens of antique sets. $ 425.00 (SOLD) This version is contained in a small wooden sleigh I designed and made based on 1800's German sleighs I have seen. The sleigh is painted and then dusted with mica "snow" and some German glass glitter. The wheels are hand-cast lead as would have been used in the 1800's. The Skittles/9 Pins are Tramp Art Snowmen. Each Snowman is painted and dusted with mica "snow". THeir scarves are made of vintage Christmas tree tinsel and fiber garland. The wooden snowball/ball has been painted and covered with German glass glitter and rests in a nest of tinsel garland at the front of the sleigh. Each snowman is made using 12 handout and chip carved pieces of wood. |
