Made from a cigar box, this piece features a capital letter "D" on a field of blue with a gold star floating above it on the lid. The Stars and Stripes along with the word "LIBERTY" wrap around the sides. The lid lifts open to reveal an interior that is painted and has a deep blue cotton velvet lid and bottom liner. A vintage Schoenhut toy Donkey rests inside accompanied by an "American Family" tradecard.

"LIBERTY" is part of a Patriotic Trio of "Ballot Boxes". Together they symbolize the fundamental values we have learned since childhood. As we memorized and recited the Pledge of Allegiance..."I pledge allegiance to the flag...with Liberty and Justice For All".

Approximately 56 hand-cut and carved pieces of wood were used in creating this one-of-a-kind work of art.
